Fun-loving and cheerful off the track, Hailie Deegan is undoubtedly one of the most aggressive drivers on NASCAR’s oval. Now in her third full-time season in the Craftsman Truck Series, the Temecula native has also signed up for Tony Stewart’s Superstar Racing Experience venture.

Fearless as she is, Deegan is known for her brash ability to put the bumper on fellow drivers. But as the SRX Racing Series rolled into Berlin Raceway for the fourth race of the 2023 season, Hailie Deegan was handed a warning.

Officially called the Camping World SRX Series, Tony Stewart’s “laid-back” racing venture has appeased fans ever since its first run in 2021. Returning for a third season run, the SRX series saw its fair share of drama and paint-rubbing actions. Far from Tony Stewart’s idea of a leisurely race, the SRX series was rife with cautions and race-ending wrecks. For the first time, the series also saw the suspension of CART champion Paul Tracy for triggering a multi-car wreck at the Motor Mile Speedway. Caught up in the Paul Tracy-initiated carnage, Hailie Deegan narrowly avoided getting T-boned by Marco Andretti’s #1 car.

As the SRX series stepped into Berlin, driver tempers were on the edge. Catching up for a chat with fellow drivers before the race, Deegan ran into four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves. During the course of their chat, the IndyCar veteran told Deegan, “I actually changed my mirror. So I have good news and bad news. The good news is, now I can see the corner.”

Responding to Castroneves words, Deegan asked, “Okay. Is it the big mirror?”

Having earlier delivered good news, the IndyCar veteran then said, “Well, it’s just the one on the side. The bad news is I can’t see sh*t behind me.”

“You don’t have to worry about what’s behind you; it’s all ahead,” Deegan quipped.

Handing the Temecula native a warning, Helio Castroneves further added, “So just in case if I chop you up, that’s because I have no intention. I said I gotta see where I’m going.”

While Deegan finished SRX’s uneventful Berlin race in 5th place, Kyle Busch, on the other hand, delivered back-to-back stellar performances.

Achieving much success after his move to Richard Childress’ camp for the 2023 season, Kyle Busch carried forward his race-winning performance into the SRX series. Signing a two-race deal, Rowdy’s first SRX appearance was at the Motor Mile Speedway, where he narrowly escaped Paul Tracy’s antics, securing his series debut win. Heading into Berlin Raceway for his second and final race of the 2023 season, Busch once again dominated the field. Placing 2nd and 8th in the Heat 1 and Heat 2 races, Rowdy fended off Brad Keselowski in the 100-lap Main Event, driving down Berlin’s Victory Lane.

Enthralled by his consecutive wins, Kyle Busch then expressed his desire to return to the SRX series in the future. Just can’t say enough about the guys that I get to work with. They’re a lot of fun, everybody does a great job on these SRX cars. And thanks to Camping World, Bass Pro Shops, Goodyear, Rowdy Energy, especially the Florida Panthers! Hopefully those guys have a good season coming, and yeah, I just would love to come back. This is my two for two, so I’m out for the year. But you know the rest of these guys can put on a show for you,” Rowdy said in the Victory Lane interview.
