Just like any major sporting series, NASCAR fans do like to enjoy having a good time playing video games. NASCAR’s gaming has undergone significant changes, and the gamers are now awaiting another big change as iRacing is set to take over the licensing for developing new games and titles.

Motorsports Games, the current license holder, sold the right to iRacing, announcing their departure from the gaming scene. Well, for the most part, NASCAR fans were thrilled to see iRacing step up and take charge as the new gaming partner. They had to shell out $6 million to purchase the license. But given their success with their simulation series, fans are optimistic about the new game.

Ahead of this takeover, all the previous generation of games, including the likes of NASCARHeat, NASCARRivals, and NASCARignition, will be delisted from the online stores next month. This change won’t affect the users who already have the games bought; they will still be able to play nostalgic titles. But there’s a catch. Those who haven’t acquired all 15 or so games won’t be able to purchase them in the future.

Going by the report shared by Jayski, ahead of the delisting, the games will be available at a discounted rate. So that gamers will be able to complete their sets and continue playing the previous edition of games. NASCAR 25 is in the pipeline and is set to roll out by the new publisher, iRacing, next year on all consoles as well as PC.

Although the switch from Motorsport Games to iRacing is a positive one, the trouble of securing the games due to delisting has caused problems for the NASCAR gaming community. Many of them took to social media to express their opinion on how the switch was made, while some were confused about iRacing’s first attempt to launch the new game on multiple platforms, including PC.

Fans have contrasting opinions for the launch of NASCAR 25

Although iRacing is set to develop a new game for the next year, the transition period doesn’t make sense to a lot of gamers. They wanted iRacing to be ready with the release of the new title and release it on a weekly basis. This way gamers would be able to enjoy weekly updates as NASCAR hits the road to a different city every weekend. “I think it’d be so cool if they released it before the season and had weekly events throughout the season with each track they’re going to.”

Will iRacing's takeover revolutionize NASCAR gaming, or are fans in for a disappointing ride?

Now there’s no official announcement by iRacing on when the NASCAR 25 game will officially launch. Going by the latest updates, it’s hard to guess that it will come out within a month or two or even in the first half of the 2025 season. A few fans did try to make an educated guess on the release of the new game to be just ahead of the playoffs. “Most likely will launch at the start of the playoffs, so that’s a big calendar date as well.”

The launch of the new game is set to be across all platforms, including consoles and PC. However, PC gamers are skeptical, as no official announcement has been made regarding the launch of the PC version of NASCAR 25. Sharing concerns ahead of the big switch to iRacing, this fan wrote, “It most certainly has never been confirmed to PC. The only thing mentioned PC wise in an official capacity is that iRacing has acquired the nascar rights to pc and console games.”

Not everyone is nervous about the launch of the PC NASCAR game in 2025. Replying to the concerns shared by those who were worried about the PC release, this Reddit user stated, “That’s just you being paranoid it won’t come out on PC, so much so that you’ve ignored every piece of evidence that its going to be a Pc and console release and wont allow yourself to accept. Probably won’t accept it until its in your steam library honestly. Id just relax, you’ll be playing it on your pc in roughly 9 months.”

While the launch of the game is expected to be in the latter half of the 2025 season, some fans felt that a release in 2026 would make more sense. “First world problems here for sure, but I really wish they’d just push it to 2026 and kick off the new season with it. Silly season will be about over, and a third of the 2026 schemes will be released before the game comes out.”
