Kurt Busch is on an all-time high after finally fulfilling his lifelong dream of winning at his hometown track – the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The 42-year-old NASCAR veteran was emotional after his win and was very candid during a subsequent interview.

Busch had already expressed his desire to race full-time next season. However, in a big revelation about the future of his racing career, the Chip Ganassi Racing driver admitted that he is not sure about the following season.

He rated his chances of racing in 2020 as 50-50. “It’s 50-50. I’ve been at this game a long time. Been out there 21 years, and my wife is a great supporter of mine and she loves the racing,” Kurt Busch said in an interview after his win.

Kyle Busch feels brother Kurt Busch has won it all

Busch signed a new multi-year contract extension with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2019. It is believed that the contract ends in 2021.

Kurt’s younger brother Kyle Busch also expressed something to suggest that Kurt might be satisfied with all his achievements. That could lead to him calling it a day sooner rather than later.

I think he’s checked everything off the box that he needed to check. He’s going out in high style here whenever he decides he’s all done,” Kyle said of his brother.

In his post-race comments, Kurt also revealed that shortly before the Las Vegas race, an incident made him think that a generational shift was coming. He was referring his nephew and Kyle’s 5-year-old son Brexton’s first race win in the junior shit. However, after his win, he feels ‘he’s still got it’.

My dad helped me, we helped Kyle, Kyle, and my dad, and myself are helping Brexton. It definitely felt like a generational shift was happening. But maybe not. Maybe not. This old guy has still got it going on,” Kurt said.

As Kyle said, whenever Kurt decides to retire, he will do so having achieved it all. And Kurt himself rated his Las Vegas win right up there with his 2004 championship and the Daytona 500 win.
