In a thrilling update earlier today, the racing world buzzed with the news that the former crew chief of Kyle Busch, Ben Beshore is set to join forces with John Hunter Nemechek at Legacy Motor Club for the 2024 Cup season. The decision came on the heels of Nemechek’s spectacular performance in the 2023 Xfinity season, which caught the eye of none other than Jimmie Johnson.

Recognizing his remarkable talent, Johnson promptly secured Nemechek as the full-time No. 42 driver for Legacy Motorsports, a decision announced on September 6th. Adding to the excitement, Ben Beshore, who was previously associated with John Hunter Nemechek’s Xfinity ambitions, shared some interesting insights on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio about what the 2024 season might hold for the team.

Ben Beshore, who steered John Hunter Nemechek‘s 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season to seven wins and a Championship 4 spot, is swelling with positivity for their next adventure together in 2024. As they gear up for the next Cup Series, Beshore is keen on reproducing their previous season’s triumphs in this new endeavor.

Speaking about their teamwork, Beshore remarked, “Just get the last 1% of performance out of the car based on that back and forth you know. Just last year it seemed like everything kind of clicked for us and we hit the ground running, we’re able to just get going right off the bat. It’s been a great working relationship between the two of us. I think we both think very highly of each other, you know. Continuing that here in the Cup Series.” The impressive chemistry has the duo boosted up about bringing their momentum into the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Beshore, during his talk with Sirius XM, acknowledged the increased competition level in the Cup Series but remains positive about tackling these new challenges successfully: “It’s going to be tough sled and the competition level is going to be much higher, but really looking forward to that challenge.”

Jimmie Johnson, the co-owner of Legacy Motor Club, is absolutely aware of the importance of a solid driver/crew chief partnership. He himself has driven in the shoes of a driver and became 7 times champion. He seemingly finds Beshore as an ideal match for Nemechek. With a record of leading teams to victory in both the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series, Ben Beshore’s credentials are impressive. In his tenure as a Cup Series crew chief, Ben Beshore has clinched three wins with Kyle Busch and Harrison Burton of the Joe Gibbs Racing team and made the Playoffs in both full seasons.

On top of that, in the Xfinity Series, Beshore has celebrated 15 wins across 99 starts as a crew chief. Meanwhile, John Hunter Nemechek, who drove into full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing for the first time in 2020 with Front Row Motorsports, made an impressive rookie impression with three top-10 finishes. Furthermore, even John Hunter Nemechek seems to be quite excited about having to explore the full-time Cup driver role alongside one of the most successful crew chiefs.

John Hunter Nemechek’s powerful pairing with Ben Beshore was a key ingredient in his Championship 4 season, making his promotion to a full-time Cup Series driver, along with his trusted crew chief, all the more exciting. Nemechek’s enthusiasm was palpable when he heard the news.

He shared, “The partnership between driver and crew chief requires a type of chemistry that is hard to find. As a driver, if you’re lucky enough to find a crew chief that you mesh with as well as Ben and I do, you do everything possible to stick together. I look forward to building on our competitive partnership and fighting for more wins and championships.”

This leaves us eagerly anticipating how this will play out for JGR. Meanwhile, we’re all ears for your thoughts on who could best fill Nemechek’s shoes in JGR’s Xfinity Series lineup.

Controversies, gossip, and breakneck speeds? Count me in! While F1 has its charm, NASCAR helps me relive those "Roadrash" gaming days. My favorite among the drivers has to be Tyler Reddick. The 23XI Racing pilot is not only likable but also a complete beast when he is on track, more specifically, road courses.
