Jimmie Johnson and Other Top Drivers Not Interested in this Week’s Virtual NASCAR Race

Top drivers including Jimmie Johnson will be skipping this week’s virtual race to prepare for the race at Darlington on May 17.

Notable NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass reveals the line up for the next leg of iRacing Pro Invitation Series race. As the season resumes on 17th May, many drivers will be skipping this week’s virtual race. In addition, this will be the final race of the highly popular iRacing Pro Invitation Series.

The tweet says,Here are the drivers who have confirmed to race the ProInvitationalSeries at 3 pm ET Saturday on FOX (see local listings), FS1 and Fox Sports App. Not surprising some drivers choosing to skip with a busy schedule of Cup races over the following weeks.”

According to reports, both the drivers of Hendrick Motorsports and Penske are planning to skip this week’s virtual NASCAR race.

Jimmie Johnson gearing up for NASCAR’s crazy return schedule

NASCAR will be back with some additional safety protocols include regular health screenings, limiting the number of personnel on-site and staggering their work schedules, practicing social distancing, and requiring facemasks and other protective coverings during their shifts.

Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer said in a statement. “NASCAR and its teams are eager and excited to return to racing. And have great respect for the responsibility that comes with a return to competition. Additionally, Racing will return in an environment that will ensure the safety of our competitors, officials, and all those in the local community”.

They plan to run seven races in 10 days. The initial three races will be at Darlington Motor Speedway. First, the Cup series race on May 17, and again on Wednesday May 20. An Xfinity race will run on Tuesday, May 19.
