Recently, news broke that IndyCar driver Sage Karam would make his NASCAR Xfinity debut. In light of this, former NASCAR driver and 7-time champion Jimmie Johnson offered the driver some advice.

According to the former Hendrick Motorsports star, Karam wanted to know the difference between NASCAR and IndyCar.

He said, “I spent 10 or 15 minutes chatting with him. I’m having my challenges in understanding and adapting to these cars. Hearing Dario [Franchitti] talk about his experiences in NASCAR.

“Then trying to process all that and filter all that out and give good quality advice to someone. Ultimately, if Sage or any other driver want to do the double or crossover they’re going to hop in there and get sorted out pretty quick.”

Now, Johnson admitted that he would love to hear Karam’s reaction after the first practice. He was particularly amused at the prospect of him finding out that the NASCAR car won’t slow down faster than an IndyCar car.

Jimmie Johnson is currently in the middle of his maiden season with Chip Ganassi Racing in the IndyCar Series. Naturally, he can empathize with Sage Karam’s situation, but in reverse. Karam will try to adjust to a NASCAR car, meanwhile, Johnson is also getting used to his IndyCar car.
