Jimmie Johnson is going to have a pretty busy racing calendar in 2022. Earlier this month, he confirmed that he will race full-time in the IndyCar Series. Now, the veteran driver has announced that he will be competing in next year’s Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

He said, “Just want to take a minute and thank everyone at Ally. I can’t express how much fun I had racing in the IMSA Series. How cool these cars are, how fast they are. To pursue this path to be here today, to be back for a second year with Action Express. That plan makes sense. Thank you for making me part of the family. Thank you for supporting my passion and my career. I look forward to many more good years ahead.”

Without a doubt, many are thrilled to see him back in action for the endurance event. Last year, he finished 2nd at the event, so one could say that he is looking forward to trying and clinching the victory this year. The Action Express team is a top outfit, so Johnson and his co-drivers could be in with a shout to win the race. Once again, he will be joined by Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Rockenfeller.

Aside from success in the IMSA scene, the 46-year-old is also looking forward to IndyCar. Now that he has some experience under his belt, he will be keen to capitalize on it and gun for glory. Considering that he is driving for one of the best teams on the grid, it only gives him a leg up. It is also worth mentioning that his own teammates are the defending champions of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
