Joe Gibbs Racing‘s former Xfinity Series driver and popular Truck Series sensation is caught in the headlights as his hopes of securing a ride for 2024 still remain a mystery. After ending his 2023 season with Rackley W.A.R. prematurely, Matt DiBenedetto is in dire straits as the silly season nears its end without the 32-year-old getting a ride.

While the driver’s precarious position has his fans up in arms and deeply dispirited, the driver seems like he is still keeping his spirits high, hoping for a major turnaround even to the extent that he jokes about lining himself up for 2024 with a virtual alternative.

Matt DiBenedetto teases followers about a new opportunity on the horizon

It is fair to say that the Truck Series sensation, Matt DiBenedetto is a great car driver. While the numbers don’t stack in favor of him, the 248 Cup Series starts he has under his name have given him invaluable experience that can certainly be applied anywhere in the NASCAR circle. But what he doesn’t have is a ride for the coming season.

After ending their partnership prematurely, DiBenedetto and Rackley W.A.R. parted ways after the driver himself confirmed the news on his social media. Even though the reason for his sudden exit is still uncertain, this has put the 32-year-old in a pretty bad position.

Now, as the silly season nears its closing before the 2024 season commences in February, the driver has interesting news, joking about a potential ride for the 2024 season. Taking it to his social media with some self-deprecating humor, he tweeted out a short clip of him doing a simulation drive with the caption, “I have a full-time ride next year….on @iRacing,” with a laughter emoji at the end.

However, jokes apart, the driver always makes sure his fans stay updated on his professional journey.

DiBenedetto confirms he’ll be back

Despite his significant status and experience in the organization’s top three divisions with over 248 Cup Series starts in 7 years, 69 Xfinity starts and 35 Truck Series starts, the 32-year-old is still searching for a ride. While the lack of sponsorship and funding can be attributed to why the California native hasn’t secured a ride for 2024, the reason behind his premature exit from Rackley W.A.R. still remains a mystery.

However, what comes as a relief to his fans is the fact that the driver has confirmed that he is not retiring from the sport. In an earlier, tweet, he cleared the air, saying, “There are some passionate individuals that really want to know what I’m doing next year.” 

He added, “I promise, I’m not leaving anybody in the dark. Full transparency, everything’s good in our world. No, I’m not retiring – you guys aren’t getting rid of me that easy. Racing runs through my blood. I love NASCAR, I love driving in circles for a living, so I’m not going anywhere.”

But as the silly season draws to a close, the driver is still in the dark. Nostalgic about his time in Rackely W.A.R., he also tweeted about his first win Truck Series with his former team.
