NASCAR Xfinity: Joe Gibbs Racing Rookie Scores a Strong Runner-up Finish at Kentucky

Riley Herbst, The Rookie of NASCAR Xfinity series stood second at the Kentucky Speedway. This is his 2nd-second-place finish in the series. He has seven top-ten finishes already in the ongoing NASCAR Xfinity series.

Riley Herbst said during the interview “If we keep running like this, we will jump back in the points. It is all kinds of a confidence booster to me. I know I belong in this series and I can run with these guys. We just need to put races together. I am proud of everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing and Monster energy for this opportunity.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie expressed his happiness in the video. He said he hasn’t been to these circuits still he has been able to get a second-place finish without any practice. It quite commendable the driver is in his 1st full season with the Joe Gibbs Racing team.

“I haven’t been to any of these places, no practice. All my testing and schedule is gone and wiped away. I think a lot of people forget that I never been to these race tracks. Obviously I am expected to win.

“Sometimes I need a slowdown and look back be like, ‘Wow never been to these places and these guys have two, three years even four years I mean in this series.’

“To run with them, so that’s a big confidence booster. I have only ran here one time in the ARCA series back in 2017. I think the last two years were off the schedule.”

Austin Cindric won the race at the Kentucky Speedway racing with his previous partner Chase Briscoe to win his first NASCAR Xfinity Series triumph on an oval track.

Cindric, who drove 41 laps, at last, completed .952-seconds in front of Riley Herbst and Ross Chastain to take the triumph at the Shady Rays 200. It is the first of a doubleheader week that will incorporate a second Xfinity Series Kentucky race, the Alsco 300 on Friday.
