Joe Gibbs Racing team had one of the better campaigns among all the other teams across Xfinity Series and Cup Series. While Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr almost came close to winning the Cup title, Daniel Hemric sensationally won the Xfinity title.
However, after winning the Xfinity title, Hemric decided to bid farewell to JGR as he joined Kauling Racing for 2022. On top of that, Harrison Burton also left the team for a Cup seat at Woods Brothers Racing, leaving Joe Gibbs Racing with a vacant seat in the Xfinity Series.
But that’s about to change soon as the team recently teased their new driver on Twitter.

Guessing the new Joe Gibbs Racing driver
While many fans were guessing the new driver, or rather the full-time driver, to be Ty Gibbs, that wouldn’t probably be the case. Because Gibbs is already on JGR’s roster, part of their Xfinity Series lineup as a well-known name.
And anyway, teasing him to be ‘the new driver’ doesn’t really make sense for a team for whom he is already a driver.
So the next best guess, and one which is likely true, is that the new driver is Trevor Bayne.
I want to say it’s Ty Gibbs, but that would be too easy. Could this be something though? pic.twitter.com/5pYz30aFYD

The former driver who also has experience in Cup Series and Truck Series gradually faded away from racing and started operating a coffee business in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Bayne has had a few NASCAR appearances here and there over the last few years, but nothing in terms of a ‘full-time’ drive.

In an interview in 2020, Bayne had said something that may finally come true. “Driving race cars and finishing 20th isn’t that fun, so if you have a shot to win a race and run upfront, then it’s a great opportunity,” he said.

Perhaps the great opportunity is finally here for Trevor Bayne, served by Joe Gibbs Racing.
