If there’s someone who deserves the praise for Denny Hamlin’s win at Richmond Raceway, it’s his pit crew. Making the most of the late caution, Hamlin’s pit crew clocked an impressive 8.99-second pit stop that allowed him to jump two positions and gain an advantage during the restart. Making the most of this, the #11 driver was successful in fending off the late charge by Martin Truex Jr. and Joey Logano, bagging his second Cup Series win of the season. But wouldn’t Hamlin deserve some praise, too?

Team owner Joe Gibbs, as he usually does, took time to congratulate the entire #11 team for their impressive showings at Richmond. However, in doing so, he once again hilariously trolled Hamlin. Even Hamlin’s fiancee, Jordan Fish, was sold on the hilarious trolling by Joe Gibbs and reacted to the whole scenario on Instagram.

While addressing the team, Gibbs said, “Just want to say congratulations to all of you. We’re probably missing Denny. Where, where’s he, where, where? Oh, my gosh, where did you come from?”

To which Hamlin then replied, “I had to change my pants. I wanted to make sure that I was dressed slightly more appropriate this time. So took a little longer.” This incident caught Jordan Fish’s attention, who also found the whole incident funny. In response, she replied in the comments section stating, “Why is this so funny?? 😂”. But what was this joke all about?

Well, it all started after Hamlin’s first win at Bristol Motor Speedway. In a similar setting, Joe Gibbs congratulated the whole team for their contribution during the race. However, Hamlin’s dressing style seemed to have caught his eye. The veteran driver had dressed up at the meeting in ripped jeans, and this allowed Coach to torment his driver with a hilarious dig.

He stated that after 52 winning banners, he couldn’t even afford a pair of decent pants. “He’s at 52 banners up on the wall and you would think after all these years, the man could afford a pair of pants but… I’ll let him go ahead and finish up,” Gibbs joked back then. So this time, Hamlin decided to dress modestly, but he still received similar treatment from his team owner, who purposefully ignored his presence in the room.

Hamlin and his entire crew won’t mind their team owner continuing the tradition of such meetings and hilarious banter, as long as they keep winning.
