Joey Logano entered the NASCAR Cup Series Round of 12 elimination race with a 21-point lead on the cutoff spot over great rival Kyle Busch. However, Logano knew he had a tough task ahead, especially with the race being at the Charlotte Roval. To add to that, there was the chaos due to the rain prediction and the havoc it caused on Saturday.
There was another reason why Logano was so concerned about the Charlotte race. He felt that the Roval was the biggest challenge ahead of him, and if he got through that race, he would certainly fancy his chances in the next round.
Logano now feels that he has a strong chance of making the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.

Why Joey Logano fancies his chances in the Round of 8
“I feel great about where we’re at. I told my wife before we left, I just got to get through today. I feel like we got a good shot at getting to the Championship 4,” Logano admitted after Sunday’s race.
“This is such an unknown. This is what had my stomach in knots. Like I said, I’m glad to get through it. I feel really good about our chances.”

With the uncertainty of Charlotte now out of the equation, Logano feels he has things in control. The No. 22 Team Penske driver said the penultimate race of the Round of 12 also gave him some much-needed confidence.
“I feel great. We’ve had good speed. I look at Vegas, if we didn’t get the damage, get trapped down a lap there for a minute. We were really good there, capable of winning,” Logano continued.

The semi-final round of the playoffs begins this weekend at the Kansas Speedway. The next race is then at the Texas Motor Speedway before the elimination race at Martinsville Speedway. Logano feels one of those tracks in one of his best, and it comes for him at just the right time.

“I look at Martinsville as one of our best races. Texas wasn’t bad for us either,” Logano added.

The next race at Kansas presents him with his biggest challenge in the next round with a best finish of 15th place in his last three races there. However, as Logano said, Martinsville is where he will look to assert dominance with one win, one top-5 finish, and a top-10 finish in three of his last four races.
