Back in October, Joey Logano appeared in an interview with Real Racing TV. The Team Penske driver spoke about his passion for racing and when it first began. He said, “I think a passion at a young age. It’s very lucky to find something that I absolutely loved as a kid. Cars like Hot Wheels, Power Wheels, go-karts, it kept going up.”

He revealed that he received a go-kart on Christmas when he was around five or six years old. Every time he got home from school, all he wanted to do was hop onto the kart and drive it. Admittedly, he confessed that he was a fairly reckless driver, but he was happy.

What else did Joey Logano say?

The #22 driver insisted that he was truly passionate about racing and found it fun. From there, he was able to steadily rise up the ranks, and now he has reached the pinnacle, the NASCAR Cup Series.

It is interesting to note that Logano is one of four drivers to rack up 25 Cup wins by the age of 30. The other three drivers are Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Richard Petty. In other words, Logano is rubbing shoulders with an elite group. He acknowledged that it is always special when a driver hears their name in the same breath as a legend’s name.

However, he harked back to some useful advice from team owner, Roger Penske. According to him, nobody should be caught up in their achievements and forget to look ahead of them. Obviously, the statistics look good on paper, but that is not the endgame.

The point is, age does not matter, but winning championships does. Those statistics are not enough, and drivers like Logano should gun for more glory in the long run.
