This weekend’s NASCAR race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval is making many drivers nervous. The primary reason comes down to the weather conditions. As it turns out, this is because Hurricane Delta is affecting the state of North Carolina and bringing heavy rainfall. Among the worried faces are Clint Bowyer and Joey Logano.
The latter confessed that he consulted Xfinity Series star Austin Cindric for advice. This is because the Team Penske Xfinity driver has some experience in racing in wet conditions.
“‘Dude, tell me the insight,’” Logano said.

“What do you do? What do you look for? How does it drive the car? When do you change rain tires? Do rain tires wear out? I don’t know. Do they wear out when it’s raining? When it dries out I know they come apart pretty quick, but at what point do you go from wets to dries if it stops raining?”

What else did Joey Logano say?
The 30-year old also posed an important question, ‘At what point is it too much rain?’. He is also worried about the prospect of standing water or running water across the racetrack. Other concerns revolve around the Charlotte Roval’s drainage system, especially around the infield road course.

He concluded, “I don’t know. I’ve never really looked around when it was pouring rain to see how that road course drains. So there are so many questions that we have no answers to. We just have to expect the unexpected at this point.”

Truthfully speaking, the hurricane that is raging across the United States throws a massive spanner in the works. This makes the weather at the Roval, highly unpredictable and there are chances that this will affect the playoffs. All that the likes of Joey Logano and the other drivers can do is survive the onslaught and try and make the Round of 8.
