Since the Cup Series race at Richmond, the Fords have had quite a resurgence in the NASCAR winner’s circle. Ryan Blaney‘s victory at the Coca-Cola 600 back in June at Charlotte Motor Speedway proved that Fords can win on the intermediate oval tracks of NASCAR. And after Chris Buescher‘s back-to-back win at Richmond and Michigan, the hopes for the Ford performance are just off the charts.

Chris Buescher even won the season finale at Daytona. A great season for Brad Keselowski’s Ford team. However, another Ford icon is in contention with Brad and Chris, and he feels quite confident about the upcoming races at Darlington and Bristol. You’ve guessed it right, Joey Logano of Team Penske.

Lately, Joey Logano has been feeling a tad bit slow with his Ford Mustang. And he expressed the same to the MRN crew in their live podcast. As a driver behind the wheel of a Cup car for over a decade, Joey Logano definitely wants to advance to the most coveted Championship 4.

When a crew member asked how he felt about the next three races, Logano waved his green flags at two of them.

He said, “I feel the best about Darlington. About our cars and my team and myself; how everything just kinda drives at Darlington, feel pretty good about that.

However, when it came to Kansas, Joey was not too optimistic. For him, it is kind of a “hit or miss”. Still, he expected to gain good stage points out of that race.

Joey, who has had just one victory in the current season and that too at Atlanta, fixed his eyes at Bristol. He claimed that it was his favorite track.

“… hopefully if we have a fast car we’ll be able to move around that racetrack,” he added with a firm resolve in his voice.

Outside his 2023 Cup campaign, Joey Logano drove for ThorSport Racing in his ninth career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, at Bristol Motor Speedway, earlier this year. He led 138 of 150 laps. Naturally, the Team Penske sensation has high hopes for the third race from this point.

Now that Joey Logano is in the playoff battle, he is done planning his course of action over the next 10 weeks. A veteran at his game, Joey Logano feels like there is nothing worse than qualifying for Championship 4 and not winning the race.

Therefore, he is very cautious about his strategy and mindset. He told the MRN crew that Southern 500 is a place where many drivers could mess their strategies up. He said, “There is going to be 2-3 playoff contenders that might have an issue. And they’re gonna put their backs up against the wall…that’s usually what happens.”

He admitted, “You don’t have to win in the first round to move on, you just got to not screw up.”

Indeed, when 30-40 cars accelerate at their fullest to chase that one prized ride down the victory lane, the chances of miscalculation and making mistakes are excruciatingly high.

“I think if you gotta survive this first 6 weeks to get into that round of 8, and then you have to win,” he added.
