At 38, Kyle Busch sure has enough fuel in his tank to keep racing, while his achievements certainly make him feel like a veteran already. Two Cup Series championships, 63 Cup wins, and a 10-season streak of posting wins in all three NASCAR seasons are just some of his highlights. However, despite all his achievements, there are many drivers who are rated higher. Kevin Harvick, meanwhile, feels like his qualities as a driver are underappreciated.

Kevin Harvick has found his new home in the Fox Booth. And his very first personal interview with one of the drivers was with his former rival and competitor, Kyle Busch. And it’s safe to say he is eager to watch Busch race throughout the season.

Kevin Harvick lauds the class act Busch serves in NASCAR

Speaking in a one-on-one interview on Fox, Harvick explained why he was impressed by RCR’s star driver. He said, “I think for me to being able to sit in the booth and be able to watch you do what you do because I don’t think you get enough credit for what you do with the race cars, the things that happen inside the race car, the communication that you give back to the team. I think for me that one of the that I’m looking forward to watching in the booth.”

Meanwhile, Harvick also reminisced about the past brawls and competitive edge between the two drivers that brought the best out of him.

“Because of the fact that we spent so many years just hanging heads right. We spent time, we spent money, we spent effort but it’s still one of the favorite things that I got to do in this sport, was to compete against you and your team and I think it brought the best out in things I did and the worst at times.”

While Harvick spoke of Busch’s conduct inside the car and how he deals with the pressure, a very similar example was put on display by RCR’s lead driver at the Daytona 500.

Busch kept his cool at Daytona despite all the blunders by the RCR pit crew

Chasing his long-elusive Daytona 500 win, Kyle Busch was in contention to fulfill his legacy last Monday. However, RCR’s pit crew certainly were not prepared enough and up to the task for the event, which ultimately cost the 38-year-old his race. Not once but twice, Busch had to restart the race from the tail end of the grid, and it was because of mistakes made by his pit crew members.

It would have been understandable if Busch was ragged up at his team and gave them an earful on the radio but, it was the opposite of this. Instead of bickering about the issues, Rowdy was hard at work and focused on bringing the win home. After Richard Childress’s not-so-sweet words were heard on the radio for the pit crew, Busch had a rather calm and assertive response to his boss. He replied, “We can still win this f***king thing.” From this, one can see why Harvick was speaking so highly of his racing characteristics and conduct.

Although, Kyle Busch did miss out on his pursuit of the Daytona 500. He can very well put an end to RCR’s three-decade-long drought for the Cup Series Championship this season.
