A Misstep in Italy: How a Vacation Turned into a Challenge for Harvick

The unexpected saga began during NASCAR Cup’s midsummer break when Harvick jet-set to Italy with his young son Keelan, a budding go-kart racing sensation. In an unfortunate twist of fate, the bustling energy of Italy’s streets transformed into a perilous path for Harvick. A misstep on a flight of steps left him nursing “a stack of busted ribs,” an injury that would have taken down the faint-hearted.

“It’s been an interesting year as far as how things have worked out,” the veteran driver told NBC Sports. “I feel like we’ve performed OK with what we have.”

“The guys have done a good job in making something out of it, put ourselves in position to have a chance to win a couple of races. Had some bad ones and some good ones, kind of fought … and scraped and worked through an injury after the break.” the ‘Closer’ stated.

The #No. 4 Ford Mustang driver, who has 11 top-10 finishes and six finishes of 20th or worse this year, further stated, “We just have fought one battle after another. It’s been typical #4 car stuff that we’ve worked through. Just keep grinding away for 13 more races.”
