Kevin Harvick Pays Tribute to Dale Earnhardt After Beating Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr to Take the Win in Atlanta

Last night, Kevin Harvick snatched the win from Joe Gibbs racing teammates Martin Truex Jr and Kyle Busch in the last stage. After his win, Harvick paid tribute to Dale Earnhardt by doing his famous three-finger salute.

Truex was leading the first two stages and it looked like he will take the race win home easily. However, Harvick snatched the victory from his trash in the last stage. Additionally, 2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion, Truex Jr. scored his first stage wins of this season.

After the race, Harvick said, ” My first career win came for me here at Atlanta and this is just a racetrack that I’ve taken a liking to,”. Harvick added, “You always have those memories and now you want to celebrate everything that Dale Earnhardt did for this sport. To come here and be able to do that with wins and go to victory lane is pretty special.”

Harvick passed both the Joe Gibbs Racing cars to take the win in the final stage

Kevin Harvick holds an outstanding record at Atlanta Motor Speedway. And the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 is his third triumph at the memorable track. This was his 51st career win in Cup Series.

In the race, Harvick leads the pact for 151 out of the 325 laps. And fought off a valiant challenge from Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. Kyle and Truex Jr finished at the second and third spots.

Earlier in the race, Truex Jr won the initial two stages and lead 62 laps of the race. And he managed to keep Harvick’s and Kyle behind him. However, Harvick passed both Joe Gibbs Racing cars in the third stage of the race and held them under control to win by a solid 3.527 seconds. After that, Busch passed Truex to take the second place with five laps to go.

After the race, Kevin was talking to Bob Pockrass of Fox NASCAR. In the interview, he talks about his stand on the current ongoing protests. And he revealed his reason to participate in the NASCAR driver’s video against racial discrimination.
