With the advent of Next-Gen cars, the technology revolution that NASCAR has been witnessing in the last couple of years is indeed praiseworthy. Teams are battling in order to surpass each other in various aspects. In the process they come out with unique features in their car or equipment. But you will be surprised to know that the drivers, who handle the cars bringing glory to the teams are often unaware of these changes. Retired racer and now a broadcaster for FOX Sports, Kevin Harvick, seemed to figure out the reason, which he recently revealed in a conversation.

Harvick, who owns a team himself, opened up on an episode of Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour on ‘NASCAR on FOX’ with Kaitlyn Vincie and Mamba Smith. Talking about how innovations intrigue him, Harvick revealed that mostly these new changes are kept hidden from drivers because they tend to have a “big mouth”. And since every team keeps a close eye on each other, any information getting revealed accidentally proves to be detrimental.

“The problem with the drivers is that most of them have a big mouth,” said Kevin Harvick while laughing. He continued, “And so they get into the motorhome lot and it’d be like, ‘Hey, by the way, did you, you think you got that spoiler or that same spoiler? I got on my car’. ‘Well, I don’t know. You got a spoiler on your car? You got that thing going on with your intake manifold. Oh, yeah, probably. I don’t know’. You can’t tell the drivers because they got a big mouth.”

Well, now that he said it, it is no more a secret to the world. The inspection specialists will be scrutinizing on these a bit more from now on. Jokes apart, Kevin Harvick said that there should exist a fine line between what the teams tell their driver and what they don’t.
