At the Darlington Raceway, Kevin Harvick drew first blood when he won the race from Austin Dillon. However, it was his actions after the race that really propelled him to the headlines.

As it turns out, a young child waved the chequered flag and later went over to hand the flag to Harvick. However, the driver declined and let the boy keep the flag.

This beautiful gesture just goes to show that these drivers are also human and would do anything for the fans’ happiness. Without a doubt, Kevin Harvick made one little boy’s day very special indeed.

How did Kevin Harvick do in the race?

So far, Harvick has been running away with the championship and has added another Darlington win under his belt. This places him in a prime position in the first round of the NASCAR Playoffs.

However, this was far from a dominant win, as he inherited the lead. Apparently, Harvick capitalized when Martin Truex Jr and Chase Elliott collided late in the race.

Elliott lost a lot of momentum, consequently becoming easy pickings for Harvick. Meanwhile, Truex Jr was forced to pit for repairs, so Harvick found himself in the lead.

“The leaders got tangled up there and the next thing you know we were racing for the win,” Harvick said. “This is one of the most prestigious races in our sport and obviously everybody in our sport knows the history that Darlington has for our sport, so anytime you can win here is pretty special.”

This is Harvick’s second Darlington win since May 17th. However, the difference between the two race wins was the fact that there were no fans to witness that first win.

This time around, Darlington had permission to admit up to 8,000 spectators. Needless to say, Kevin Harvick truly reveled in their presence.

It is worth noting that Austin Dillon hounded Harvick after he inherited the lead from Truex Jr and Chase Elliott. Meanwhile, Penske Racing driver Joey Logano rounded out the Top-3.
