During the Craftsmen Truck Series race at the Texas Motor Speedway, Carson Hocevar triumphed. However, it could be argued that he lucked out with the victory. This was because Nick Sanchez and Zane Smith were battling for the lead when they collided with each other. Hocevar just so happened to avoid the carnage and crossed the finish line in P1 to win, sealing his Playoff berth. Following the race, 2004 Cup champion Kurt Busch reacted to the chaotic finish.

The former NASCAR driver exclaimed that he did not see that sort of finish coming at all. Truthfully speaking, very few did, as the lead two drivers were side-by-side when they collided. Sanchez spun and took out Zane Smith in the process, while third-placed Hocevar scampered away from the wreck.

Kurt Busch was happy for Hocevar, despite the controversy

Hocevar couldn’t stop smiling as he confessed to Fox Sports after the race, “I’ll take the fall for it. I wrecked a Chevy, but hopefully, he is in victory lane, so I’ll go talk to him. He deserved to win for sure.

“All the times that we’re the fastest car and I don’t win, and this team don’t win, and they deserved to win. More than anything, I finally can stop getting the same question asked so many times though.

“We didn’t deserve to win today, just in the right spot at the right time.”

Naturally, Kurt Busch was thrilled for the young driver when he reacted to the victory. He responded to NASCAR on Fox’s Instagram post by writing, “Holy didn’t see that coming!”

The #42 driver was quick during the weekend and he qualified in the fifth spot. From there, he battled up and down the order and eventually bagged Niece Motorsports its fifth career win.

The road was not easy because he dropped down the order during an early restart. Hocevar struggled to claw his way up the pack and only succeeded when there was another restart. Later, when Sanchez and Smith had their shenanigans, all he had to do was stay clear.
