The Kyle Busch contract saga was something that got dragged on for a really long time. In the end, JGR managed to lose their most promising drivers as Busch announced that he was headed for RCR starting the next season. Later, during conversion on Sirius XM Radio, Busch revealed who he had been talking to in search of guidance regarding his team switch.

Busch stated, “You know my brother was definitely one of that I leaned on and talked to and took some advice from him. You know he has made these transitions between teams before and I kinda felt like getting a sense from him would be a place to start.”

“As well as the sport’s most popular driver (Dale Jr) was definitely one of the guys that I kind of leaned on for advice as well too, uh, I guess past most popular driver yeah that one, not the current one.”

Busch was quick to correct himself after stating NASCAR’s most popular driver, since the current one would be Chase Elliott. He then mentioned the former most popular driver, indicating that he was referring to Dale Earnhardt Jr.
