Earlier, NASCAR dropped a massive announcement that Homestead-Miami would return as the season finale. The announcement itself was pretty memorable because of the nostalgia factor. In a nutshell, the scene is set after the 2019 NASCAR Cup season, and Kyle Busch was just crowned the champion. As he was celebrating his second Cup title, Brad Keselowski walked up to him with an interesting proposition.

The driver unveiled a DeLorean DMC car, made famous by the Back to the Future movies. The plan was for Busch to travel to the future and find out what lay in store in 2026. When he did so and returned, he was pleased to report that Busch was now a Richard Childress driver, and Keselowski was a driver-owner. Finally, Kyle Busch was the bearer of great news: Homestead-Miami would host the season finale in 2026.

Now we have seen both Busch and Keselowski draw swords on the racetrack before. It is fair to say that they are not exactly friends, despite racing each other for more than a decade. Interestingly, before the 2017 championship race, they were involved in a rivalry with and while Keselowski tried to make amends and sign a peace treaty, Rowdy passed on it. “Sometimes you just don’t like a guy. Fact of the matter.” Busch said this about his rival, and he seemed to be stuck in the past when Keselowski publicly shamed him in 2010. “Kyle Busch is an a–.” Despite their differences, the two delivered an acting masterclass in a promotional video that was loved by all.

In fact, Brad Keselowski sneaked himself ahead of Rowdy, claiming to be the best actor. “Finally, my acting is being recognized and I got my very own academy award for this performance 😂. Thank you to everyone who got me here.” But, like a true competitor, Busch wasn’t going to let this slide as he took his due credits just before the race in Kansas.

“It was fun. We showed up and did our deal, and that was about it. I thought the piece turned out really well. When I saw the script, I was like, ‘What are we going for, here?’ Got the ‘Back to the Future’ vibe and I was like, ‘Alright, I got it.'” Kyle Busch explained, he even touched upon his past run-ins with Keselowski and if that got in the way during the shoot. “I would say, we just don’t necessarily have a relationship. Just show up, do our deal. But hey, when you’re a good actor, you can make anything work.”

At a time when NASCAR’s broadcasting partner, FOX, has received flak for not promoting the sport, it is indeed a safe bet to rely on the star power to make a mega announcement. Clearly, the nostalgic approach, along with the Back to the Future theme, did the trick for the fans. Who would’ve thought that NASCAR would bring Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski to work together on a commercial, and that would turn out to be a huge success? No one had this collaboration on their bingo cards to start the year.

This isn’t either driver’s first foray into Hollywood

Being NASCAR drivers, they are obviously very popular figures and keen to cash in on that fame. When Kyle Busch was establishing himself as one of the hottest NASCAR prospects, he even got a taste of Hollywood. In 2017, he was one of many NASCAR drivers making a cameo in the heist comedy movie, Logan Lucky. Also joining him were Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney and Jeff Gordon.

Meanwhile, Keselowski’s Hollywood credits not only include Logan Lucky, but a bigger series. Apparently, he and Logano made cameos in the disaster comedy action franchise, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No. Incidentally, it was worth mentioning that actor-turned-NASCAR driver Frankie Muniz was one of the stars in the movie franchise.

The movie debuted in 2015 and was the third in a 6-movie franchise, which became surprisingly popular. Both drivers were featured because there was actually a scene that took place during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Unfortunately, Keselowski did not survive the ordeal because he was eaten by a shark. Though he had a chance for a witty one-liner before his untimely demise.
