At long last, the NASCAR Cup race at the Texas Motor Speedway finally got underway and reached its conclusion. In the end, there was a surprise winner, as Kyle Busch finally broke his winless streak in 2020.

For a long time, he was in danger of being the 3 defending champion to go winless in the following year. Luckily, this race in Texas helped him prevent that unwanted record. In addition to that, he also maintained his record of having wins in every Cup Series season since 2005.

Busch has now gone 16 years with at least one win in the NASCAR Cup Series. With this, he is now tied with Ricky Rudd, Jimmie Johnson, and Rusty Wallace.

If he wins a race in 2021, he will tie with David Pearson, and in 2022, he could potentially tie with Richard Petty. If he could stick around that long, there is a strong possibility that he could hold the record for the most consecutive seasons with a win.

Kyle Busch was absolutely thrilled to win at last, after coming agonizingly close on multiple occasions. In the end, he led a Joe Gibbs Racing 1-2, from Martin Truex Jr and Leavine Family Racing’s Christopher Bell.

Truthfully speaking, this win was a long time coming, and Kyle Busch had to really dig deep. Owing to this, he compared it to winning a Cup Series championship.

The #18 driver is a highly experienced driver and knows the meaning of getting to Victory Lane. However, he acknowledged that Wednesday’s finish was one of his hardest-fought triumphs.

On a more amusing note, it had been such a long time since he won, that he forgot to do his signature celebration. To be precise, he normally took a grand bow in front of the stands.

Now, the defending champion insisted that he may have had a disappointing 2020 season. However, he is determined to mount a serious challenge for the crown in 2021.
