Back when Kyle Busch first joined Richard Childress Racing, no one knew what could happen. But when he stood up from his car at California’s Auto Club Speedway in 2023 and bowed, fans knew he had made a legendary move with that win.  Kyle Busch has long been known for his fiery competitiveness and relentless drive on the NASCAR circuit. Yet, beneath the helmet lies a devoted father whose bond with his son, Brexton, is as profound as any victory lane celebration.

From Brexton’s early days at the track, cheering on his dad, to now carving his own path in racing, their relationship has blossomed both on and off the asphalt. This father-son duo shares more than just a last name; they share a passion, a dream, and a series of unforgettable moments that have deepened their connection.

Recently, this bond was beautifully showcased when Brexton clinched a significant win and celebrated in a manner strikingly reminiscent of his father’s iconic victory pose. The gesture didn’t go unnoticed, and for Kyle, it was a poignant reminder of the legacy he’s building. Not just in racing, but in fatherhood, but first, let’s look at what B-Rex has been up to.

Brexton Busch’s 2025 season has been a showcase of rapid growth and big milestones for the young racer. He kicked off the year by capturing his first-ever Golden Driller trophy at the Tulsa Shootout Junior Sprint A-Main. Brexton led every lap from the pole and made a statement among the sport’s rising stars. Brexton continued his winning ways. He swept four out of five races at Highland Rim and Nashville to claim the Spring Nationals title.

When Brexton Busch clinched his first A-class win at Lucas Oil Speedway, it wasn’t just the razor-thin 0.022-second margin that caught the racing world’s attention. Rather, it was the celebration that followed. Channeling his father, Brexton hopped out of his No. 18 sprint car and delivered the signature bow that made Kyle Busch a Cup Series icon.

For Kyle, watching his nine-year-old son mirror that iconic move was an emotional moment, especially as he’s faced his own winless streak in the NASCAR Cup Series this year. Kyle took to social media, sharing a video of Brexton’s bow with pride. “Kiddo keepin the bow going 🏁👊🏻,” he wrote, attaching a GIF of his own famous celebration.

The bow is something special for the Busch family. In the over 200 victories across three national NASCAR series, the bow has become a constant companion of Rowdy. Speaking about it once he said, “I don’t really remember exactly how it started, but I just kind of came up with the idea of when I would do a burnout and one of the biggest burnouts I ever did — that I can recall — was actually early on in my career at Charlotte after winning an Xfinity Series race. I think I won my third or fourth race. So I thought of it as, I’m appearing out of the smoke, like I’m a magician. And being from Vegas and being a showman with the background of being from there, I was like, ‘OK, what do great performers do every time they have a great performance for the crowd?’ They come out and bow for the crowd and are getting applause for the end of the show, so that was kind of my idea. Do a big burnout, appear out of the smoke and do a big bow.”

The moment resonated deeply with fans and the Busch family alike. Samantha Busch, Brexton’s mom, posted live reactions as her son battled through traffic and cautions. She erupted with pride at his textbook crossover for the win. Brexton’s racing journey has been remarkable for someone so young.

As Kyle continues to chase his next Cup victory, Brexton’s triumphs and tributes serve as a poignant reminder of racing’s generational magic. For Kyle, seeing Brexton’s celebration wasn’t just about nostalgia. It was a powerful affirmation that their family’s racing traditions are alive and well. Brexton’s performance continues to inspire both father and son to keep pushing for victory.

Kyle Busch’s Texas frustration and Kansas hopes

While Brexton is making waves with his recent A-Class win and impressive performances in sprint cars, his father, Kyle Busch, faces a different kind of challenge in the NASCAR Cup Series. The two-time Cup champion is enduring his longest winless streak. Surprisingly, it now stretches over 60 races since his last victory at Gateway in June 2023. The pressure is mounting, both from within and from fans who are used to seeing Busch in victory lane.

At the 2025 Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway, Busch’s frustrations continued. He finished a disappointing 20th, unable to break into the top 15 for most of the race. The No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet showed flashes of potential early on, but faded as the laps wound down. Busch and his team have been searching for answers. They are doing everything, tweaking setups and strategy, in hopes of closing the gap to the frontrunners.

This result marked another missed opportunity for Busch, who has managed only a handful of top-10s this season. Crew chief Randall Burnett and RCR’s leadership remain committed to finding the right formula, but acknowledge there is still work to do. “I feel like the entire complex has had speed this year in each series. We just need to take that next jump, and there’s a difference between running fifth and winning,” RCR Vice President Keith Rodden had said a couple of months back. However, it seems that the “next jump” continues to elude Kyle Busch and the No. 8 team.

Looking ahead, Kansas Speedway offers a glimmer of hope. It’s a track where Busch has found success before, and the team is determined to turn things around. As Brexton celebrates his own victories, Kyle’s focus is squarely on snapping his drought and reminding the NASCAR world of his championship pedigree.
