We saw one of the most exciting races on last weekend’s Atlanta Motor Speedway race. With such a close race, and the win being in doubt until the very end. Finally, we saw William Byron took the chequered flag. On top of that, Atlanta featured the largest crowd in the grandstands in eight years.

Considering these statistics, the reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway is undoubtedly a success. After all, that was the goal of the track officials when they unveiled the controversial change to turn Atlanta into a Superspeedway.

Why was the change controversial? Well, the 1.5-mile long Atlanta is at least a mile shorter than Daytona and Talladega. On top of that, Atlanta Motor Speedway is a much narrower track. All these differences added on to raise concerns among many NASCAR fans. And, many fans prompted NASCAR to undo their change.

While on the other hand, “It’s a regular superspeedway. We just keep crashing. What did you expect? It’s the same stuff. I guess it’s OK, I don’t know,” said Joey Logano. “We survived, but a lot of cars crashed today for sure, just like we would expect. I don’t know, you be the judge if it was entertaining or not.
