Kyle Larson’s Double Hattrick Makes Danica Patrick Laugh
With his third consecutive victory, Kyle Larson sealed his spot in the championship decider in Phoenix. Such was the ease of Larson’s victory, that NASCARCASM joked the Hendricks driver can win a race with his ‘eyes closed’. Also joining in on the banter was Danica Patrick.
The former Indy Japan 300 winner retweeted the tweet from the NASCAR parody account and seemed to enjoy the banter around the championship favorite driver.

The Hendricks driver not only led the race nine different times with a race-high of 130 laps, but he also finished 3.169 seconds ahead of the field in Kansas.
His ninth race victory of the season is also the second time the Californian has won three races in a row. Adding more to this impressive feat is the fact that the last driver who achieved this in a single season was Dale Earnhardt in 1987, pretty good company to be in.
An important day for Larson and Hendricks
Along with Larson, what made the victory more special for the team was that it came 17 years from the day of a tragedy in the team’s history. In 2004, a private plane owned by Hendricks Motorsports crashed in Virginia, killing 10 people, including Rick Hendrick’s son Ricky and brother John.
Larson dedicated the important victory to those who lost their lives. In a post-race interview, he said, “I want to dedicate this win to Rick and Linda (Hendrick).’’
“I didn’t ever get to meet Ricky or the other men and women who lost their lives that day, but I felt the importance of this race, no doubt.”

Heading into Martinsville, Larson expressed his excitement, knowing he has a “shot” at the championship.
“Knowing that I have a shot to race for a championship, like, the anticipation definitely rises each day,” he said.
The Hendricks driver also seemed to calm the butterflies down and focus on what’s directly ahead of him.
