From NASCAR’s short tracks to the long ovals, Kyle Larson‘s driving prowess has made a name for himself on all of them. However, it’s not just NASCAR’s asphalt tracks that have witnessed the #5 HMS star’s dominant run. To this day, Kyle Larson remains a stalwart in the arena of dirt racing.

Known as the “wheelman,” Kyle Larson is known for his innate ability to hold the reins of a dirt car. Among all the dirt tracks that he has raced on, a quarter-mile dirt track located in Placerville at the El Dorado County fairgrounds in the Sierra Nevada foothills perhaps holds a special place in the heart of the Elk Grove native. Kyle Larson was only 14 when he competed in his first career Sprint car race at Placerville Speedway and earned his first victory in the same season, back in 2007. Fast forward to 2010, Larson bagged the Golden State KWS-NARC Series title. Hence, it’s normal that this Californian dirt track means so much to the 2021 Cup Series champion.

Kyle Larson is expected to come back to the track and compete in the “Hangtown 100” on November 17th and 18th. The opening version of the Hangtown 100 in 2019 crowned Larson as the winner of both the 100-lap-long feature and overall points. Additionally, Larson took home the prize money of $32,000 dollars.

This year, Larson is all set to try his hands at his favorite event again. Placerville Speedway promoter Scott Russell said, “We are delighted to have Kyle Larson in the field at the Hangtown 100 once again. Kyle grew up racing around Northern California and is one of the biggest fan favorites that we have out here, so it will be great to have him on hand. What he has done so far in his career is amazing and it’s special that he continues to have such a passion for dirt track racing.”
