One of the most anticipated motorsports events of the year, the Chili Bowl Nationals is finally up and running. Known for its high-octane action and edge-of-the-seat experience, the 38th edition lived up to the hype on Monday night. While it is usually the spectators who are left in awe of the spectacle, Keith Kunz had his reasons for praising the first race of the 2024 season.

Kunz sure has a winning pool of talent with a total of 13 entries for this season and this came true when they started their campaign on a high with the preliminary win. His Motorsports’ Tanner Carrick set the tone for the team this season by registering a win on Monday night. A win sure is a big morale boost for the team, but Keith was impressed by the event’s preparations, the highlight being the dirt tracks at Tulsa’s SageNet Centre.

It is never easy to please the teams, drivers and spectators when it comes to the prep for any major motorsport event. The track is always in some kind of scrutiny, with suggestions on how it could have been done better. However, this was not the case with the 38th inaugural race-day event for Chili Bowl Nationals 2024. The track preparations, in fact, were lauded and appreciated by teams and the fans after the inaugural race on Monday.

KKM certainly came firing out of the gates at the SageNet Centre and it was not just the win that caught everyone’s attention. The dirt track that was paved for the event also received well-deserved praise. Kyle Larson‘s mentor, Keith Kunz, penned out an appreciation post for the same, with the hope of a similar experience for the upcoming races.

Keith wrote on X, “Great job @cbnationals on track prep, Give us more of tonight! 👍”. Being an indoor racing event, the team at Chili Bowl Nationals certainly nailed it with the track preparations for the event. For a track that is not affected by adverse weather or drying from sun or wind, there are unique challenges the prep team has to deal with hopes of providing the best circuit possible to the racers.

However, the tracks weren’t the only good thing for Kunz. The win on Monday indeed was a good boost for KKM’s Carrick Tanner is eyeing the first-place win on Saturday Night as well.

It was not an easy win for Carrick on Monday night, by any means. He had to fight tooth and nail against Shane Golobic, who blew trades with Carrick until the very end. However, it was KKM’s Carrick who took home the win by the finest margins and claimed his second career preliminary win.

But Carrick certainly has his eyes set out for the Saturday event and is hoping for nothing but the first-place finish. “I want to win the thing. Last summer I was in the mains and started in the top five and ran into top five. I just want to win it, I don’t want to come back and run third or run second. I wanna come in the building and I want to win. That’s my goal this year and that’s what I’m sticking to. Whatever happens, happens, I just want to win.”
