Marco Andretti drove in the NASCAR Truck Series for the first time in his career at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. He drove the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports.
The debutant had an awesome qualifying and managed to advance into the final round of qualifying. He managed to snatch the seventh position in qualifying and started his race in the top 10. However, the race wasn’t that great for Andretti as he ended up plummeting down to the 19th spot.
After the race in an interview, he said, “I had a good qualifying in the dry. I didn’t have a good race in the rain. But that one was pretty interesting, it was more of a survival game, and I ended up in the top 20.”
Andretti admitted that he had a lot of fun driving the NASCAR Truck Series. He said, “But it was a blast, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had in the NASCAR truck.”
He also talked about his plans on coming back again. When the interviewer asked him about his plans on coming back, he said, “Yeah, we are gonna look at a couple of more this year. I think.”

Andretti has raced in NASCAR once before in his career. The defending Camping World SRX Series champion drove in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL in 2022. However, he told the reporters that he had much more fun racing in Truck Series, he said, “My learning curve was a lot steeper in the Xfinity car at the ROVAL.”
However, when Andretti was asked about racing in NASCAR full-time he said, “I would never say never (to a full-time NASCAR ride). I love this stock car stuff, so who knows what the future holds.”
Andretti knows that NASCAR is a completely different cup of tea for him. However, he is looking to gain some much needed experience in NASCAR by testing himself. It would be interesting to see if he decides to come to NASCAR as a Full-time driver in the near future.
