Martin Truex Jr is having a tough outing at the Brickyard 400. After starting the race on the rear end of the field and a pass-through penalty, the veteran driver found himself crashing into the wall. With the race setting up for the final stage, Truex Jr was sandwiched between Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain on the restart.

The JGR driver was looking for a different lane to make the pass on the first corner. However, Chastain was on the outside lane while Larson held his ground inside the track. In a desperate attempt, MTJ tried his luck on Turns 3 and 4. This time around, he even bumped into the door of the No. 5 car. Eventually, he completely missed his markers coming off the exit on Turn 4 and after making contact with Larson again, he ended up hitting the safer barrier.

Instead of calling out the HMS star for throwing the aggressive blocks, Martin Truex Jr blamed Chastain for the crash. “1 car (Chastain) just ran over me as usual.” Even the slow-motion replay wasn’t able to catch any infringement by the melon-man. Although the driver might have jumped the gun with his story, fans weren’t thrilled to see him wrongfully criticize Chastain.

Fans side with Ross Chastain after being wrongfully accused of wrecking Truex Jr

Not sure if Hendrick Motorsports drivers get special treatment or not, but MTJ certainly wasn’t taking any chances in sparking a feud with one of their star boys. Despite knowing it was Larson who threw the aggressive blocks and caused him to spin, as per fans, “Truex afraid to blame Larson😂😂😂😂.”

He could make a case for being blocked by Chastain on Turns 1 and 2. However, coming off the backstretch, the No. 1 car wasn’t within touching distance of the No. 19 Camry. This was pointed out by one of the fans online on X, “Chastain never touched him.”

Ross Chastain is known to be the hardest race car driver to pass, thanks to his blocking skills and techniques. But this time around, it seemed like Larson learned a lesson or two from his rival and put it to good use. Calling out this use of questionable tactics that led to a crash, this fan replied, “He got Chastained by the 5…. Again. Best driver in the world.”

Meanwhile, there were a few who believed that it was Martin Truex who engineered his downfall. Knowing that the inside lane was secured by Larson, it was a high-risk move. Moreover, it was MTJ himself who initiated the contact that sent him crashing into the safer barriers. “Truex just clearly took himself out.”

NASCAR fans probably have Denny Hamlin and Bubba Wallace up on their list as the ones who are seen as whiners. But Martin Truex Jr resorting to the blame game without knowing the entire story has convinced fans he’s just like the other two drivers. “MTJ one of the top 3 whiners of Nascar.”

It will be interesting to hear Truex Jr’s response once he gets a glimpse of the replay. He is not likely to retract his statement and accept that he was in the wrong trying to force the issue, leading to a wreck.
