With the 2020 NASCAR regular season winding down, the playoffs are right on the horizon. A number of drivers have cemented their place in the Playoffs, but there are a few spots that are still up for grabs. One playoff hopeful is Matt DiBenedetto, who lies 15th and right on the bubble.

He recently spoke to Bob Pockrass regarding his chances of qualifying and confessed that he needs a miracle. DiBenedetto said, “I’m just gonna sit and hope and pray all week that we can get out of there clean and make the playoffs. We shouldn’t be this close to the bubble, it’s frustrating.”

The 29-year-old was sorely disappointed that he got tangled up in incidents in Texas and Kansas. After some mixed results, he is not really looking forward to his chances but is determined to fight until the very end.

The #21 driver even spoke about being pitted against the likes of Jimmie Johnson and William Byron.

What else did Matt DiBenedetto say?

According to the California native, the important thing is not to make any poor decisions. This is even more crucial since he is going up against the likes of Byron and the NASCAR veteran, Jimmie Johnson.

DiBenedetto also admitted that he must take great care to avoid any potential accidents in this race. However, he is fairly confident because he has raced at superspeedways and is good at those tracks.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are so many unknown variables that can influence a race. Chances of those variables kicking up a storm and bringing an end to his playoffs dreams are quite high. This is why he believes that one needs a lot of luck at the Daytona International Speedway.

In order for Matt DiBenedetto to qualify for the playoffs, he needs help. In layman terms, when a driver ‘needs help’, he needs an incredible stroke of luck, like his rivals not finishing the race. Since there are 10 points separating the trio, with one race in regular season remaining, this Daytona race is their last chance.
