Speaking about the encounter, Larson said, “It meant a lot to have Bubba come to victory lane. He always does a really good job of congratulating the winners. I saw him waiting to say hi, so I ran over there and just had a quick moment with him. He’s always believed in me, so that was special.

“It was really cool to have him come by and take time out of his post-race to come over. “

How did Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace perform in the race?

Admittedly, the two drivers had contrasting fortunes at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. While Larson went on to win the race, Wallace wound up all the way back in 28th place. All in all, it was a slightly disappointing display from the African-American driver.

Coming back to Kyle Larson, the 2021 Pennzoil 400 triumph is his seventh career win. It also marks his first Cup Series win since his suspension in mid-2020. The fact that Bubba Wallace and many other drivers congratulated Larson proves that the hatchet has been firmly buried.

Ahead of the 2021 Cup season, the Hendrick Motorsports team offered him an olive branch. Now, it seems that the Asian-American driver has repaid the faith in him. It also proves that owner/founder Rick Hendrick made the right call in recruiting the 28-year-old.

He is on a good run of form, and with this confidence-boosting win, Larson will be able to head to the Phoenix race with his head held high.
