Without a doubt, Kyle Larson was the hero of the All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. However, the return to the historic track was about so much more, which included Bubba Wallace. With the 23XI Racing driver involved in a controversy last Sunday, it has only got worse for him prior to the Coca-Cola 600 race. This time around, it is he who is facing NASCAR’s heat.

Wallace has done pretty well in the last few races to crawl his way back up in the NASCAR Cup Series table. However, the latest incident is surely not going to help his cause one bit.

Bubba Wallace suffers a massive blow following NASCAR’s inspection prior to the Coca-Cola 600 race

It was just last Sunday that Bubba Wallace unexpectedly received an unpleasant message on his radio after the All-Star race. While NASCAR has launched an investigation into the matter, things only got ugly for Wallace in a post-race interview. The 29-year-old was caught in a bird-flapping affair and received plenty of criticism.

Fortunately, NASCAR opted not to punish Wallace. In a season where he has struggled with inconsistency, this decision surely came as a sigh of relief. Despite having four DNFs to his name, this campaign, the Alabama-born driver, has done well to recover as he currently ranks in the 15th position.

Without a doubt, the Coca-Cola 6oo race stands of great importance in Wallace’s bid to make it to the playoffs. While he looked nicely set up with a seventh-placed start, a major setback has jolted him and his team. The NASCAR inspection on Saturday hasn’t gone down as desired and it is surely bad news for Michael Jordan’s team.

As reported by Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass, Wallace’s car failed the tech inspection twice. In fact, it is the first time he has seen a car fail twice. This has resulted in his car chief Zachary Marquardt getting ejected. Not only that, Wallace’s team will lose its pit selection for the race, which itself is a big blow.

While the car got cleared on the third go, further penalties could be expected from NASCAR.

It is certainly surprising how the tech inspection went south twice. Naturally, the fans are also left shocked as they bombarded their say on the matter.

Safe to say, Bubba Wallace has been in good form lately. With two back-to-back top-five finishes at Kansas Speedway and Darlington Raceway, things have looked better. However, the failure in the inspection is certainly a big blow to his aspirations.

While many have loyally supported Wallace, there are plenty who have bashed him time and again. This shocking news has enraged several fans, and they took to Twitter to express it. Some of them sarcastically thought it was a good idea for the FBI to investigate it in context to last weekend’s controversy.

“Bring in the FBI to investigate this inspection.”

“Need @FBI to investigate what happened here”

While some did that, a few accused Wallace and the team of cheating. One of them said, “Trying to cheat him up”. On the other hand, one slammed him with a three-word criticism, “Average cheating Wallace”.

In fact, some of them were even confused as to where Wallace’s starting position on Sunday would be. One asked, “@bobpockrass does he get to keep his starting spot or does he go to the rear?” While one other fan desperately wished he starts at the rear. He said, “Oh what a shame. Hope he starts at the rear.”
