When fans cheer while you are performing, it gives you immense confidence. But when your family is there in the stands to root for you, the boost you get in confidence is off the charts. Doing something similar, the Deegan family is setting some serious family goals in the NASCAR world.

Hailie Deegan’s parents, Brian and Marissa, are known to be extremely supportive when it comes to helping their kids. Whether it is for the dirt bike races of Haiden and Hudson or for their daughter Hailie being behind the wheels of the Ford F-150, the couple hardly misses the chance to be there for their children. The cameras caught them posing in a jovial mood, moments after the third race of the Superstar Racing Experience series on July 27th at the Motor Mile Speedway.

The Deegans: a family of speedsters who have each other’s back

From “Ghost riding” to the death-defying “Mulisha Twist”, Brian Deegan is the first ever professional, freestyle motocross rider to have done a twisting backflip 360. It is quite natural that the same blood will run through the veins of Hailie. Hailie won the “Rookie of the Year” for the 2020 ARCA Menards Series, finishing third in points and earning four top-five finishes and 17 top-10 finishes. Besides being a full-time driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, she is now competing in Tony Stewart‘s SRX series in 2023.

How can a Motocross legend like Brian Deegan stay home when his daughter is racing alongside NASCAR stalwarts like Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, and Tony Stewart? The family traveled all the way to Virginia and after the race, the former Motorcyclist could not contain his happiness after having witnessed his daughter’s top 10 finish. In an Instagram post, Brian said:

Indeed, family time is the best time. And if your family is also in the same adrenaline-pumping business as you, the thrill just goes up a notch. Hailie has held the banner of her family quite high throughout the series.

The second race of the series was scheduled to be held at the Thunder Road Speedbowl on July 20th. However, due to bad weather, the event took place at Stafford for the second time in a row. Hailie started first, following a random draw.

The first 25 laps ended with Hailie finishing 4th after Tony Stewart, Paul Tracy, and Daniel Suarez. However, the Heat 2 saw Hailie Deegan finishing after Paul Tracy, who came 12th. Tables were turned again during the main event of the day. With just 10 laps to go, Ryan Newman hit the bumper of Tony Kanaan. Hailie got under Paul Tracy on lap 71 and steered forth to finish in 8th place.

Coming to the race at the Motor Mile Speedway; Marco Andretti turned into the front bumper of Deegan for a caution on lap 96. With just one lap till the white flag, Kyle Busch held off Clint Bowyer by four car lengths. Busch won the race and Hailie Deegan earned another respectable top-10 finish with P8.

It is the unpredictability of the sport that probably intrigues me the most. There was a time when I knew very little about NASCAR. But after I watched the 2011 Ford 400 where Tony Stewart defeated Carl Edwards in a tie-breaker, there has been no going back for me.
