In late August, four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon will be batting for a great cause. This is because the Hendrick Motorsports Vice President will be the guest of honor for the NASCAR Championship Ignition Luncheon. The venue for this event is the Phoenix Raceway and the proceeds will go to the Phoenix Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

Needless to say, many fans of the former NASCAR driver were thrilled at the initiative. One response read, “That’s awesome and so is JG!!! Always been such a great humanitarian for the children!! He was my driver and I am so glad that I got to meet him!!”

Another said, “Jeff is the best. He was one of the first drivers that stated donating to hospitals for sick children, before he even had children. I’m happy he was my favorite driver for most of his career.”

One particular fan was truly grateful to Jeff Gordon

There was a tear-jerking comment that read, “Thank you Jeff and to all the great people who support childhood cancer.. my son wouldn’t be here without it”.

Best known for winning 93 NASCAR Cup Series races and four titles in a 25-year career, there is more to him than meets the way. It is also worth mentioning that for his final race there, the Phoenix International Raceway was temporarily renamed ‘Jeff Gordon Raceway’ in his honor.

As for his off-track activities, the former Hendrick Motorsports driver established Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation. This organization supports the research of new treatments for children in need.
