NASCAR broadcaster-cum-veteran Parker Kligerman’s 2025 season has been a mix of solid performances, pivots, and moments that caught fan attention. While he stepped away from full-time racing, he still made noise on the track. In the Wawa 250 at Daytona, he swapped in for JRM’s Connor Zilisch mid-race and drove the car to Victory Lane. Though he appeared in Truck races too, it was his achievement with JRM that started the buzz around his potential comeback to the track.

Rumors claimed Kligerman would return part-time for JR Motorsports in 2026, as Connor Zilisch moves to Trackhouse Racing for the Cup Series next year. NASCAR Central’s tweet sparked that speculation,“Parker Kligerman will return part-time in the O’Reilys Seires for JR Motorsports for 2026. Will race in 10-12 races next year, the fan favorite makes a return after winning for the team in Daytona this year filling in for Connor Zilisch.” But Kligerman didn’t let that ride quietly.
In the latest episode of his The Money Lap podcast, Kligerman pushed back publicly, saying, “To dispel a rumor here, sadly, I found out about this rumor at the same time everyone did… Unless this person knows something I don’t know, then this is not happening…I saw it got a lot of play all over the internet…and I was like, ‘huh, this is awkward,’ and it’s absolutely not been discussed. So I appreciate being in a wonderful rumor like that…but work on your sources.” His tone was measured but firm, making clear that he had no insider knowledge of such a move.

On the other hand, while Kligerman was busy shutting down speculation, JR Motorsports is making real shifts behind the scenes. For 2026, JRM announced that Rodney Childers, a veteran crew chief and multiple-time Cup winner, will join as crew chief of the No. 1 Chevrolet, pairing with drivers Carson Kvapil and Connor Zilisch in a split schedule.

Meanwhile, JRM also confirmed that Sammy Smith will return to drive the No. 8 car in 2026. These moves show that the team is already shaping its 2026 roster, and that the door for a Kligerman deal was likely not wide open to begin with.
However, Kligerman’s response to the rumor has saddened fans. But given JRM’s announced trajectory, the rumor may have been more wishful thinking than credible options. But the dynamic between driver ambition, team strategy, and fan expectations makes every reconfiguration a headline.
Fans voice frustration and support after Parker Kligerman quashes JRM speculation
One fan sarcastically wrote, “I guess anything from NASCAR Central from here on out gets automatically deleted.” Fans have often observed that posts made by outlets like NASCAR Central or affiliated accounts sometimes vanish overnight after backlash or fact-checks. Even for this rumor, the tweet made by NASCAR Central on X has been deleted upon Kligerman’s dispelling of the rumor.
Another fan added, “I hope the rumors of Rajah getting JRM starts next year are true at least.” The buzz around Rajah Caruth joining JR Motorsports in 2026 has been building across multiple media outlets. Sources note that he might continue his full-time Truck ride with Spire Motorsports while running a limited Xfinity slate with JRM. But with one rumor getting squashed, fans find it hard to believe the news about Caruth unless it is officially recognized by the team and the driver themselves.
While others may have lost hope, some are still clinging on to the news, saying, “If I’ve learned anything from the pro wrestling world, its usually that when someone denies or dispels the rumours of them being involved in something, chances are… they are, just cant say anything about it because of contract reasons. so uh… wait and see on this one?”
In the motorsports and other high-stakes industries, denials can equally be tactical. Drivers, teams, or spokespersons may refute speculation to avoid legal/contractual ramifications or to maintain strategic leverage.
But others know that word of mouth is the most credible source of information they can have, as one wrote, “Always amazes me how people here forget these teams are businesses, and just expect them to put someone in a car and pay out of their own pocket because he is a cool guy.” Teams like JRM operate as professional entities, balancing performance with financial sustainability. While drivers’ skills are paramount, securing sponsorships is equally critical.
Another fan remarked, “Makes sense, I mean why would he compromise his full time Broadcasting career for a handful part time appearances.” After concluding his full-time racing commitments in 2024, Kligerman embraced a more prominent role in motorsports broadcasting. He has been serving as a color commentator for NASCAR on The CW, studio talent for NASCAR on TNT Sports, and a pit reporter for NASCAR on NBC, where he is among the youngest correspondents to cover a NASCAR Cup race.

Additionally, he co-founded The Money Lap, a motorsports media company, and given these prospects, the idea of returning to part-time racing could indeed be seen as a potential disruption to his momentum.
So for now, fans will have to watch closely as Kligerman continues to balance his racing roots with a rising broadcasting career.
