Tailgating and Camping
Facilities to stay as close to NASCAR’s finest racers are essential for diehard fans! And Charlotte Motor Speedway has all the necessary camping facilities available, from Premium Full Hook-Up sites to Tent camping. Fans can make use of campsites of multiple sizes offering free WiFi, in-ground fire pits, firewood, ice, new propane tanks, sewer and water hook-ups, and so much more. Each camping area is staffed with 24-hour security. It is either located near a shower house or has shuttles running daily to restroom/shower facilities. Premium camping spots sell out first, especially on major event weekends like the upcoming one. Hence, advance reservations are recommended.
For the energetic tailgaters, the following instructions on in-field camping may be essential. You can check in at 1:00 PM on Wednesday and check out at 12:00 PM on Monday. Tents, vans, and very small campers are allowed on the South Infield, near Turns 1 and 2, and only RVs are allowed on the North Infield, near Turns 3 and 4. Events
The upcoming week is going to be jam-packed with events at Charlotte Motor Speedway. On Friday, October 3, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will go live, with practice and qualifying between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Then, at 3:30 PM, the first race of the second round of the Truck playoffs will be flagged off, with its broadcast on FS2.
Then, October 4 or Saturday will be even more exciting. The NASCAR Xfinity Series will undertake practice and qualifying between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, while the NASCAR Cup Series will conduct the same events between 2 PM and 4 PM. At 5 PM, the Xfinity Series Blue Cross NC 250 will be shown the green flag, and it will be broadcast on The CW.
October 5th will be the grand day for all diehard fans. The NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America ROVAL 400 will be flagged off at 3 PM. It will be streamed on USA Network, with fans biting their nails to see who survives into the Round of 8.
Cooler Policy
While Cup Series drivers will need to cool off their heads after a tension-filled Roval race, here is what fans need to know about the cooler policy on the track. According to the Fan Guide on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s website, “Fans can bring in a soft-sided cooler no bigger than 14x14x14 and a bag/backpack no bigger than 18x18x14. Hard coolers are not allowed through the gates. Coolers are not allowed in VIP Suites, 300 level, 500 level and 600 level.”
Parking
To make things smoother, Charlotte provides parking surrounding the entire speedway for fans’ convenience. For more details, check the parking and driving directions page to find the parking area closest to your seats and/or your traveling point. General parking fees may vary per day.
What is more, the track also offers reserved and unreserved handicap parking areas. The reserved areas are sold in conjunction with wheelchair reserved seats and are located across from Gate 7. Feel free to contact the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267) to purchase these passes. For unreserved handicap parking, fans can use Entrance T off Bruton Smith Blvd.
Prohibitions
Like Cup Series drivers are expected to be cautious while driving each other on the track, fans are also expected to be responsible. Charlotte Motor Speedway has a comprehensive list of dos and don’ts for this, and some important points are as follows. Among the permitted items, fans are allowed to have two bags per person, sunscreen, sanitizer, and other toiletries, pre-packaged and sealed food and beverages, electronics, seat cushions, cigarettes, and lighters.

The prohibited list includes foam or hard-sided coolers, any firearm, knives longer than 3 inches, utility tools with a knife blade, confederate flags, fireworks, dry ice, umbrellas, selfie sticks, frisbees or balls, or any projectiles, pets, and others.
