Camping World Truck Series driver Parker Kligerman recalled the first-hand experience of watching a furious Chase Elliott look for Jeff Gordon after the race at Watkins Glen International.

Kligerman spoke in a podcast and said, “Yeah so I was standing in pit road and I saw Chase pull up. You know when they go two to five, so they pull up in a line and that’s where we interview the drivers. I was not charged with getting Chase, I was gonna get AJ Allmendinger, but I was standing there and watched Dave Burns going get him.

“So you know we give drivers a little bit of times sometimes they’re immediately out of the car ready to talk. Sometimes, they just want a minute, maybe they just want some fluids or whatever.”

He added, “He immediately got out, looked at Kyle Larson celebrate, and then walked away. Dave just came after me and said give me a minute, give me one minute. He runs into Tyler Reddick, who I think was laughing about something, then Tyler realized he was not happy and then moved and he found Jeff Gordon.”

“Immediately there was a discussion happening, it looked pretty stern and pretty serious.”

He concluded by saying, “I mean look he dominated, he was the fastest car all weekend. He was on the pole by a significant amount from his teammate Kyle Larson. talking to the Hendrick guys he had a real leg up on everyone through the bus stop. So he was just the class of the field and on the late-race restart, he just got the race taken away.”

“So you gotta understand his frustration.”

Larson stated, “Yeah, no it’s cool I’ve always had a lot of respect for AJ. I always believe, it’s a lot less now, because he does a really good job at the Xfinity series but, I feel like he is one of, if not the most, underrated guys in the NASCAR, any series in NASCAR of my career that I have had in stock cars.”

“You can just tell when drivers are really good.”
