Anthony Alfredo’s 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series journey so far has been anything but great. With four DNFs, zero wins, and no top-five or top-ten finishes, the BJ McLeod Motorsports driver is going through a slump this season. The events at the Doordash 250 only confirmed Alfredo’s bad luck as the No.78 driver had to bow out of both the practice and final race at Sonoma owing to mechanical malfunctions.

Who Hitched a Ride on Anthony Alfredo’s Car at Sonoma?

During the practice laps at Sonoma Raceway, Alfredo found himself in a pickle, as the throttle on his #78 Chevy got stuck. Crossing Turn 1 on Lap 4 of practice, the throttle malfunction caused the BJ McLeod driver to hit the outside wall, before crashing head-on into the tire barrier.

Alfredo tried his best to get the throttle unstuck, but it was too late by then. During the final race, Fast Pasta’s luck ran out again. Alfredo had to retire from the race early, owing to a front right suspension failure on his Chevrolet Xfinity car. Disappointed in the events at Sonoma, Fast Pasta quickly lightened up on discovering an unlikely passenger in his car while pulling it apart.

Chancing upon a lizard stuck between his car’s nose and front splitter, Alfredo took to Reddit posting about the hilariously weird passenger.

“Weirdest thing I’ve ever found after a wreck. My throttle hung in NASCAR Xfinity Series practice at Sonoma Raceway. The gas pedal was stuck to the floor and I hit the wall wide-open, before sliding through the grass and into the tire barrier. Looks like we picked up a passenger on the way. When we unloaded the race car and started stripping it at the shop today, I found this lizard between the nose and splitter,” Alfredo wrote in his post
