NASCAR Fans All in Agreement About Hendrick Motorsports’ “Proactive” Move

Recently, reports emerged that Hendrick Motorsports CEO Rick Hendrick was making organizational changes. He has done this in order to strengthen the outfit and help new business units grow. To achieve this, Hendrick promoted four longtime senior executives into leading roles in the organization with immediate effect.

Naturally, this has pleased many fans, especially since the appointments are all internal. Some fans even declared that Rick Hendrick was a “great boss” for caring about his employees. They also insisted that in-house promotions are the right thing to do. All in all, the reaction to the news received a lot of praise.

And this was evident as a fan wrote, “LOVE Mr. H.. he is a great boss.. very innovative and proactive.. and building an awesome future for Hendricks Motorsports..”

One example is Hendrick Motorsports president and COO Marshall Carlson. Carlson has been a Hendrick employee since 2005 and is in charge of the team’s day-to-day operations. Now, his new role sees him tackle the post of Hendrick Company’s president. His new duties include supporting Hendrick Motorsports and the Hendrick Automotive Group.

In addition to that, he will be in charge of various commercial initiatives like contract manufacturing, product innovation and technology investment.

What did the Hendrick Motorsports owner say about the changes?

Rick Hendrick said, “You’d be hard-pressed to find a senior executive in sports who has achieved more over the last 17 years than Marshall.

“His leadership has resulted in extraordinary performance on the racetrack, and it’s completely transformed the way our company does business. He’s accomplished it all while navigating our people through numerous changes as our sport and our team have evolved.”

Meanwhile, executive vice president and general manager Jeff Andrews is now the president and GM. In his new role, he oversees the Cup team’s management and will report to Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon. Other promotions include new executive vice president and CFO of Hendrick Companies, Wayne Robbins, and Scott Lampe, who is the team CFO.
