“I’m very, very blessed. I have so many great people on my corner…things are looking good.” These optimistic words of Daniel Suárez came in late September, to the fans’ surprise. The Mexican speedster is burning rubber away from Trackhouse Racing, a Cup Series team for which he won two trophies, at the end of 2025. It marked the end of a long partnership and four years of steady growth.

Yet Daniel Suárez is ready to bid adieu to his time at Trackhouse Racing. With 318 races of Cup experience and 75 top ten finishes, the Mexican native is a top prospect among NASCAR teams. According to a NASCAR insider, one team is set to welcome him – leaving fans confused.

Daniel Suárez stays in the hot seat with his rivals
In late September, The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi predicted a possible career path for Daniel Suárez. The Xfinity Series, to be named the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series from 2026, looked like his future path. Bianchi also predicted a possible entry in JR Motorsports or Kaulig Racing. However, this narrative is shifting along the lines of a shift in Spire Motorsports. Last week, team co-owner Jeff Dickerson announced Justin Haley will not return to the No. 7 Chevrolet next year.
This week, in ‘The Teardown’ episode, Jordan Bianchi flipped his earlier prediction about Daniel Suárez. The reporter boldly dropped a solid hint about Suarez joining hands with Spire Motorsports in 2026 and remaining in the Cup Series. “Daniel Suárez is going to be in that car next year, and I would expect an announcement very soon,” he said. Yet he also added that Suárez may have to fight for it. “Spire, though, we had heard was looking to take a big swing.”

Indeed, Daniel Suárez may face rivals. Spire Motorsports may be interested in Kyle Busch, from whom the team bought the truck program and shop building. But Carson Hocevar is apparently locked in long-term at Spire. So Suárez may not get a long-term deal, maybe two years at most.
Yet Bianchi also defended Daniel Suárez’s possible move in an article for The Athletic. “A Suárez-Spire union makes sense for both sides. Suárez would land with a team that has the potential to win races – something he has stated is important to him – while Spire would get a veteran driver who’s also a two-time race winner and highly motivated to prove himself after an up-and-down past few years at Trackhouse.”
Throughout 2025, Justin Haley has failed to match the pace of teammates Carson Hocevar and Michael McDowell. He sits 31st in points and has been 28th or worse in the standings since the 11th race of the season. Yet, Jeff Dickerson praised him after the news of the breakup. “Justin is the embodiment of a true racer who has quietly become a respected competitor within the NASCAR garage and will be an incredible asset to his next team.” Haley may return to Kaulig Racing, where he had some of his best runs as an Xfinity driver.

Like Haley, the path ahead is still uncertain for Daniel Suárez. Yet the current hints seem to be leaving fans confused.
NASCAR fans dissect Spire’s future plans
Daniel Suárez may not be one of the top Cup Series contenders. However, he has proved his caliber multiple times, from his groundbreaking Sonoma victory in 2022 to the picture-perfect Atlanta win in 2024. So, some fans remain confused about why Spire is still undecided. “Do you really need Suarez to prove himself? You pretty much know what you’re getting with him.”
Another fan concurred, citing how Daniel Suárez could be a mighty bastion for Spire Motorsports. With Michael McDowell reaching veteran status and Carson Hocevar wooing bigger teams, Suárez could be Spire’s future. “That feels crazy. Unless he’s crashing constantly they need to be looking at him as the constant for the next couple years to help build the program with McDowell nearing retirement and Hocevar having the potential to go to a bigger team.”
Yet hopes did not soar too high, with one fan expecting similar results. After all, Suárez is 28th in points, hardly better than Haley’s 31st place. “I imagine that he will run about the same as Justin Haley has in that car tbh.”
Someone else suggested that it would be suitable for Suárez as well. Trackhouse is spot on right now just because of the sheer talents of Shane van Gisbergen and Ross Chastain. The comment read, “I think Suarez will do better at Spire than track house. Th spread itself to thin and is just getting carried by driver talent imo.”
One fan was confused about Spire’s decision to oust Justin Haley. The 26-year-old racer has two top 10s and 13 top-20 finishes in 34 starts. Only two of his 11 finishes outside the top 25 entailed accidents. So the comment read, “I love Suarez as a person and I love his personality. But I truly don’t understand replacing Haley. It doesn’t seem like they really wanted Haley to begin with, but he is at least someone you can build off of for a future. I’m not real sure why they wasted Haley’s time and possibly threw his career out of sync.”
Evidently, NASCAR fans are a little skeptical about Spire Motorsports’ actions. We can only wait and see the future for Daniel Suárez and Justin Haley.
