When one looks at the Cup Series playoff format and then at the Xfinity Series playoff format, one thing becomes clear; the fight is way more fierce in the latter. And for good reason. With only 26 seasonal races and just three post-seasonal rounds, NASCAR crowns its Xfinity Series champion. So the competition is bound to be tough. And with just one race to go till the round of 12 ends, every Xfinity Series driver out there is feeling the heat.

Saturday’s race at the asphalt-coated oval in Texas witnessed John Hunter Nemechek’s seventh win of the season and with that, his second at Texas Motor Speedway. The 26-year-old Joe Gibbs Racing driver can now focus on the round of 8 without having to worry about the upcoming race at Charlotte Roval. However, the run wasn’t as rewarding as Nemechek’s for a JGR part-timer as he crashed with a Stewart-Haas racer, collecting Austin Hill in a mess.

Driving the #4 Ford Mustang for Tony Stewart, Josh Berry will replace Kevin Harvick in the upcoming Cup Series season, making it the first full-time opportunity for the Hendersonville native in a Cup car. Despite driving the #8 JR Motorsports Chevy for the last three years, Berry has not won a single championship title. Last year, he was the first driver to clinch a spot in the Xfinity Series championship race. However, his championship chances got bleak this year during lap 91 of Andy’s Frozen Custard 300.

Joe Gibbs Racing speedster Trevor Bayne’s #19 Toyota got loose under Berry’s Chevrolet and rammed the latter into the outside wall. Bayne went spinning off into the inside and Austin Hill had nowhere to go but to run straight into Bayne. Luckily, Parker Kligerman narrowly avoided the entire mishap.

Fans pulled no punches while slamming Trevor Bayne for ruining Tony Stewart’s driver’s day.

A fan wrote, “Trevor Bayne decided ruining hill’s race once wasn’t enough so he did it again”

Someone else said, “Trevor Bayne sucks dude lol. Guy should not be sucking in a jgr car give it up”

“trevor bayne doesn’t deserve a full time ride” said another.

Another hater typed, “Trevor Bayne needs to take his ass back to the coffee shop or wherever the hell he was in when he faded into obscurity”

The hype about Trevor Bayne was getting too much for an enthusiast as they wrote, “Can we stop the fondling over Trevor Bayne now?? Like enough is enough. The guy has had chance after chance and always blows it.”

On that note, one wrote, “Trevor Bayne runs outta talent and ruins multiple playoff drivers days.”

Sadly for Josh Berry, he missed a solid chance at playoff contention in Texas. Winding the clock back to last year, Berry was in a lot better position than this year.

Berry owed his victory to his team and the fast car that he had. During a post-race interview, he said, “This thing was so fast. It just took me a little while to figure it out. I knew the race would go down to the bottom…at the end, I felt like (that). So I just wanted to really work hard and make sure my car went good in the bottom and I just had to stay disciplined.”
