Chase Elliott and outspoken veteran demand revival of historic short track
Last weekend marked a momentous occasion as NASCAR made a triumphant return to North Wilkesboro Speedway after an astounding 27-year hiatus, hosting the high-stakes All-Star race.
In the wake of this significant event, one question lingers: Could Rockingham Speedway be the next legendary track to rise like a phoenix? Moreover, would it be poised for a spectacular comeback from the brink of oblivion?
Ahead of the race at North Wilkesboro, Elliott had told the press, “I thought Rockingham was a great racetrack and I had a chance to race there too a few times. I ran a truck there I think once, and had a couple of K&N races up there and ran Late Model race there once as well. So yeah, I thought Rockingham was a great race track.”

NASCAR fans support Chase Elliott and NASCAR veteran to revive another short track
Engaging in a discussion about various race tracks, one fan opined, “I liked The Rock more than Wilkesboro, but they could easily have a race at both places.”
Another enthusiast chimed in, “Agreed. I’d attend all of them every year. Also, yes those other tracks are very close but it is kind of silly that, at present, there are only two points-paying races in NC – the home of NASCAR.”
