In NASCAR, one can go through a lot of highs and lows. And no matter how high the highs are or how low the lows get, the driver and the whole team are in it together. It is no different for 23XI Racing. But lately, the crew of this team has only proved to drag their driver, Bubba Wallace, down.

Bubba Wallace made remarkable improvements and showed exceptional driving prowess, but his team did not reciprocate his contributions at the Richmond Raceway.

Now, fans are blaming Michael Jordan’s team. They think that if this incompetence keeps repeating itself, Bubba might quit the team and go elsewhere, where his crew will support him more.

Fans react angrily towards Michael Jordan’s NASCAR team

23XI Racing displayed a strong start to this weekend’s race with Tyler Reddick starting on the pole and Bubba Wallace from P5. Both drivers led a combined number of 161 laps and finished 1-2 in the first stage but in the end, they failed to get into the top 5. The momentum of Bubba’s Toyota was hampered when his tires got stuck during a pit stop and the crew could not take them off easily. Every second matters at times like these, which is why the pit crew receives special training to do the job. But for Bubba Wallace, it did not work out.

Fans on Instagram left no chance to bash the team regarding this. Most of them wanted a new crew for Wallace.

“So damn frustrating should’ve been Wallace’s day,” said one fan.

Another fan said, “get bubba a better pit crew”

Had the team not struggled while changing Bubba’s tires, it could have been an entirely different day for 23XI Racing. The hopes for the Reddick-Wallace duo was so high that one of the 23XI fans said, “Reddick could easily have 3 wins and Bubba should have at least 1, but that whole team can’t get out of its own way every damn week”

An angry NASCAR enthusiast commented, “Fire the whole pit crew and tell Denny to give Bubba a better crew I’m sick of this pit crew last year was one thing but this year our best performance on pit road was prob Kansas but keep giving bubba these fast cars”

Another said, “Once again, Bubba’s pit crew screws up! How long will they wait before making changes? Another top ten or top five finish down the drain”

Although nobody on the internet is sparing the team, the man himself stood strong by his team. It was also an emotional day for 23XI Racing for a slightly different reason.

Bubba Wallace: The perfect example of a Team Player

Throwback to last weekend’s race at the “Tricky Triangle”, the pit crew had made a very poor decision to pit at the last stage, which made Bubba lose a lot of spots, despite him making great use of every restart there was. Coming to Sunday’s race at Richmond, most believe that Wallace failed to finish in the top 5 because of his team.

However, Bubba has always believed in his team. During a pre-race interview with Frontstretch, he said, “We have the speed, we have the people. We have the potential to do it. We just have to go on and put it all together. So, these next five races are good opportunities to do that”

A victory would have meant so much in emotional terms as well for the 23XI team. The entire crew had dedicated that day’s race to the late Tommy Kraft, father of veteran spotter Freddie Kraft, who is also a friend of Wallace. He wrote the words: “TOMMY KRAFT” followed by a heart emoji on the top of his car’s driver’s door to remember the man.

It is the unpredictability of the sport that probably intrigues me the most. There was a time when I knew very little about NASCAR. But after I watched the 2011 Ford 400 where Tony Stewart defeated Carl Edwards in a tie-breaker, there has been no going back for me.
