Kyle Larson was quite clearly frustrated with himself and the way his race was going in the first half of the Coca-Cola 600. He started from way back in the field, but as the race began to reach its end, the Hendrick Motorsports driver clawed his way back to the front, entering the contention to win the race.
But it was until Austin Dillon lost control of his car and caused a wreck, ending the defending Cup Series champion’s hopes to win his second race of the season.

In his defense, or rather, explaining the situation, Dillon said that he got “a little loose” and “tried to make it stick.” “It didn’t quite work out there. I had to do what I had to do to win the race given where we are in points,” he added.
“We had a shot there to bring home another 600.”

However, the NASCAR fans were having none of his explanations. Most of them were of the opinion that the Richard Childress Racing driver was responsible for ending the Hendrick Motorsports driver’s race, for which he received quite some flak on Twitter.

If Childress had to pay it back to all the teams for all the cars that Austin and Ty have wrecked out he’d be broke.

Kyle Larson reacts to the emotional rollercoaster of a race in Charlotte
In a post-race interview, Kyle Larson described how the opening half of the race was more or less the same for all the drivers. However, the fact that he recovered from that, was something he believed was a big takeaway from the race for him.

“The first half was a struggle for all of us. I was especially frustrated with myself,” Larson said. “To rebound from that and have a shot to win there late was something to be proud of.”
The #5 driver added that Chase Briscoe was a driver who was “really good” on the long run.

In the end, Kyle Larson wished he and his team was just “a little bit better” so Austin Dillon’s #3 wouldn’t have got to him, which ultimately led him to spin out of a position from which he could’ve won the race.
