Another race, another crash at the hands of Brad Keselowski. Or was it?

During the Cup Series at Fontana, with 43 laps to go, the Roush-Fenway Keselowski driver-owner wrecked Bubba Wallace, and for the second race in a row, Harrison Burton.

Keselowski, who was on the outside line, came down and knocked his left rear into Wallace’s front right, spun and wrecked himself, the 23XI Racing driver, the rookie, and looped in his former No.2 Penske car in the process.

At first glance, it’s hard to determine who was at fault here between Wallace and Keselowski. Because Wallace could’ve taken a step back.

But then again, as one of the commentators pointed out, Keselowski had the choice of lifting his foot off the throttle and losing a place and keeping it on and wrecking himself.

And as we all saw, the No.6 driver chose the latter.

However, NASCAR fans were still split between who was to blame for this wreck. Some pointed towards Brad Keselowski, while some put the blame on Bubba Wallace.

Brad Keselowski is maybe racing “with a chip on his shoulder” – NASCAR legend

In a recent episode of his podcast, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr spoke about the series of wrecks Brad Keselowski caused in the Daytona 500.

Speaking about why he drove the way he did in Daytona, and perhaps the way he did in Fontana as well, Earnhardt Jr. said, “If you know Brad, that’s not a big surprise, because he’s out there for Brad.”

Earnhardt Jr described how perhaps, because of his new role, his new deal at RFK Racing, he’s trying to prove that he made “the right choice.”

“Maybe he’s racing with a chip on his shoulder out there, tryin’ to show everybody, he’s going to turn Roush into the program it used to be.”

Regardless of what Brad Keselowski’s approach in 2022 may be, it’s a little careless considering the wrecks he has already caused. Yet for now, it can also be argued that he is getting up to speed with the new car just like everyone, and the incidents are simply down to that.

But one wonders, how long will the latter argument be a valid one if Brad Keselowski continues collecting wrecks every week?
