Ever since F1’s Drive to Survive received the plaudits for showcasing behind-the-scenes drama in a Netflix series in 2019, it seems like every other form of motorsport now wants to share their story in an exclusive series. With F1 setting up the trend, NASCAR has now joined the bandwagon with a series of their own in association with Netflix.
NASCAR’s ‘Full Speed’ will showcase the events of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series which does seem to follow the theme of Drive to Survive. It is expected to be a high-octane drama that will allow the audience to get closer to the real life experience of the racers and the team during the season. Collaborating with Netflix has its advantages as they have the wide reach. This could perhaps get more eyeballs towards the sport that is looking to reinvent itself.

Adding his two cents to the new NASCAR series Full Speed, insider, Parker Kligerman is of the opinion that the Netflix series will allow a pool of new audience to be introduced with NASCAR and it can be a huge win. Speaking on his show ‘Money Lap’ on YouTube, he opined, “I do believe there is no larger distribution platform in the world right now than being on Netflix. You have to be on Netflix, think about the Suits and how they got reinvigorated.”
“Even my girlfriend was watching the Golden Globes and there were jokes made as people were handing out awards that had been on a show that got on Netflix(…) So it’s like there’s nothing quite like it. This could be huge, I hope at least all it does is expose a new, large group of people to the idea that NASCAR is worth paying attention to and I think that’d be a win.”

Kligerman shares how the Full Speed Netflix series was curated
The new Netflix series Full Speed was very much anticipated and known. However, very few had to the opportunity to be present, live as the series was made and Kligerman was one of those few. Honing his duties as the pit reporter and content creator himself, he had instances where he bumped into the Netflix camera crew and their set up. Shedding a light on those very instances he said, “It was filmed during the playoffs of last year and sort of into the playoffs.
“I knew this was happening the entire time because I bumped into their cameras and boom mics about 4000 times. If you saw a boom mic hanging over anyone’s head or an errant camera or five, that was Netflix. It was very well known it was happening, I think it could be very interesting, the trailer was awesome”.
