Admittedly, the elegantly designed Cadillac does have a certain visual appeal and panache in its design.

As mentioned earlier, Johnson would have three world-class drivers teaming up alongside him for the marquee IMSA sportscar event. The likes of Simon Pagenaud, Kamui Kobayashi, and Mike Rockenfeller will race as part of an impressive Action Express Racing lineup.

Johnson had earlier stated, “It’s been a while. The car has evolved I think two generations since my last race in the Rolex 24.

“To drive for Action, to have this opportunity to compete with Kamui, with Simon, and with Mike, it’s just such a unique opportunity and one I’m really proud to be a part of.”

Johnson’s former teammate Elliott will also be competing in the Rolex 24

It would seem like Johnson finally has the chance of laying claim to the Rolex 24 title having finished runner-up twice before. However, his team, Action Express Racing, is also fielding another car, consisting of a lineup headlined by 2020 Cup Series winner, Chase Elliott.

Elliott and Johnson were of course former teammates at Hendrick Motorsports. Both share the same aspirations and a winning mentality, with the pair also spending a fair share racing at the Daytona International Speedway.

It could then be a matter of fine margins when both take to the track in a fortnight’s time. Endurance is the name of the game, and it will interest to see how both Elliott and Johnson fare in the event.
