As the points standing went through another shuffle at the Dover International Speedway, the NASCAR Cup Series battle has intensified. Leading the charge for Toyota Camry XSE, Martin Truex Jr has solidified his position with a third top-five finish of the season, trailing the highest spot by a mere 15 points. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin’s stellar performance, clinching his third victory of the season, has propelled him two spots up to fourth in the standings. This boasts the highest tally of Playoff points at 17. Joining them in the top 10 are Tyler Reddick in fifth and Ty Gibbs in eighth, showcasing Toyota’s strong presence in the championship. However, unlike Toyota, Ford can be seen struggling to climb up the ranks.

Ford’s struggle continues as Chevrolet leads in NASCAR manufacturers’ standings

The manufacturer leaderboard reveals Chevrolet at the helm with a total of 17 wins across all series. Close behind is Toyota in second place with 11 wins to their credit. However, the 2024 season has been a tumultuous one for the Ford camp. This is evident from the fact that the manufacturer finds itself at the bottom of the standings without a single win in either series. Although the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse has agonizingly come close to victory on multiple occasions, but it has never been able to clinch a victory.

With nine runner-up finishes in the Cup Series, statistics highlight that this has been Ford’s longest winless streak since 1983. Adding to this, things seem a bit more difficult for Ford in the upcoming Kansas race. Kansas Speedway emerges as Toyota’s stronghold, with Camrys dominating the track over the past few seasons. Among the past six Kansas races, Toyota has emerged victorious five times and is aiming to continue the winning streak this weekend.

For starters, Jimmie Johnson has contributed to Toyota’s performance this year. Continuing his part-time campaign in the #84 Toyota Camry XSE for the second consecutive weekend, Johnson will be marking his 30th start at Kansas Speedway. The three-time Kansas winner (2008, 2011, 2015) brings a wealth of experience, with nine top-five and 19 top-10 finishes at the track.

Furthermore, in the Truck Series, Toyota Tundra TRD Pros have made their presence felt with three drivers inside the top 10 of the series points standings. Corey Heim leads the charge in second place, closely trailing the top spot by a mere two points. His TRICON Garage teammates, Taylor Gray and Tanner Gray sit fifth and ninth, respectively.

On the Truck Series front, NASCAR veteran Brett Moffitt will be making his 2024 debut, piloting the No. 1 Tundra TRD Pro with TRICON Garage. Returning to Team Toyota after clinching the 2018 Truck Series championship, Moffitt aims to make an impact, fueled by his previous success at Kansas Speedway, where he last tasted victory at Talladega in September.

Moreover, in the NASCAR ARCA Menards Series, Toyota sets its sights on an unprecedented fourth consecutive win at Kansas Speedway. With victories in seven of the last ten races at the track, another triumph would mark Toyota’s 21st win in the last 23 ARCA Menards Series events, solidifying its dominance in the sport.
